Negative thoughts, every one of us gets them at sometime in our life. Some people live with them everyday. These thoughts can range from remembering that you have been abused or mistreated to saying bad things to people and remembering them in your mind.
Now holding a bad thought is not good for you, even if you are right and such and such person has done you harm. What I am about to explain is a practical way or changing your thoughts over time.
From time to time you hear people trying to give spiritual advice on how to combat problems, you will hear people say surround the person or problem in white light or love or any number of similar terminologies. Some of you will say if only it was that easy, to surround someone in pink fluffy feathers and they will become loving the next day.
True this is hard, but here we are not trying to change other people, we are trying to change ourselves. It is our perception of life and bad things that happen to us, that hurt. One woman may break a nail and cry for ages over it, the same woman may not flinch at watching someone die. Her friend could be in tears at the death of a friend but make a joke out of breaking her nail. We all perceive differently, we all feel differently and we all show this in a multitude of ways.
Now what do we do when we get a negative thought, say of someone who has done us wrong, we usually feel angry or hurt. Who are we hurting but ourselves, the thought is hurting us.
This is the technique I want you to try. Using this more constructive method, you will understand how to use loving words to repel bad and negative thoughts. Now every time you get a bad thought about anything, whether it be someone who’s done wrong to you, or you are holding bad thoughts towards another, do this. Send the thought towards the love and the light. Opposite to a dustbin as some may say or a trash can. We don’t want to hold any negative thoughts so we will use positive places to send these bad thoughts. Imagine a Nice room full of love and light, whenever a bad thought comes. And place it in the room.
It doesn’t matter if you get 100 bad thoughts a day and still disagree with what someones done to you. Just place the thought in the care of the room that holds love and light. You don’t want the thought as it hurts you, so let it be dealt with elsewhere. Now as you do this with all bad thoughts over weeks and months, you will notice that instead of taking 30 seconds for you to think of the love and light room, it will pop up into your mind faster and faster each week. Until the love and the light room appears in your mind, even before the thought has any chance of entering your mind.
The love and the light will defend you, as you have made an effective barrier. In a way this is like brainwashing yourself, but brainwashing in a good way. Nobody wants negative thoughts as they hurt you and make you fearful of life. So please try this technique, there is method in it and it will work if you practice it over time.
